At least eighteen people were killed in Lebanon overnight and this morning due to intensified Israeli airstrikes, according to Lebanese state news agency NNA. These are the deadliest attacks in Lebanon since a US-brokered agreement aimed to halt Israeli aggression. Israel’s military stated the strikes targeted Hezbollah fighters and infrastructure in South Lebanon, responding to alleged ceasefire violations including rocket fire towards Israeli troops. Despite a fragile ceasefire established in April, breaches continue with Hezbollah launching drones and Israel expanding its operations within Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reports over 3,783 deaths and 11,699 injuries since fighting resumed in March, displacing over one million Lebanese citizens. A recent agreement between the US and Iran seeks to end the conflict, including halting military actions in Lebanon, though reports suggest disagreements between US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding the situation.
