Latvian Radio 1 is increasing access to information with a new daily news program. Beginning September 1st, 2026, the station will broadcast “Ziņas vieglajā valodā,” or “News in simple language,” every evening at 9:00 PM. The program will deliver a concise, five-minute summary of the day’s most important news stories. It utilizes simplified language, aiming to reach a wider audience, including those learning Latvian or with cognitive disabilities. This initiative reflects a commitment to inclusive journalism and ensuring everyone can stay informed. The broadcasts will present crucial information in an easily understandable format. Latvian Radio hopes this program will empower more citizens to engage with current events.
