Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu stated that approximately 1,000 individuals have become millionaires through the drug trade in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj over the last 20 years. The Minister made these remarks during a seminar titled "Protection of Women and Children Torture Prevention Act: Challenges and Remedies" held at Nanking Darbar Hall in Rajshahi. He emphasized the urgent need to bring these drug traffickers under legal action. Consequently, the Minister has directed the police to identify and arrest those involved in the illegal trade immediately. This announcement highlights the scale of narcotics-driven wealth accumulation in the two districts. The government aims to dismantle these criminal networks to ensure regional security. The seminar also focused on broader legal protections for vulnerable groups.
