A private water park near Lahore, Sozo Water Park, has been sealed after a nine-year-old girl died after becoming trapped in a drainage pipe. The incident occurred when park officials allegedly began draining a swimming pool while children were still swimming, creating a powerful suction. The girl was found approximately 40-50 minutes later but could not be revived. Police have arrested three park officials – the manager, security in-charge and CCTV in-charge – and registered a case against them for causing death by negligence. The victim, recently returned from Dubai with her family, was her parents’ only daughter. Authorities have initiated legal action against the park's management and highlighted the absence of safety measures, specifically a net over the drainage pipe.
