The Democratic Alliance (DA) has criticised the KwaZulu-Natal government’s recent distribution of vehicles to traditional leaders, alleging it is a blatant attempt at electioneering. The DA claims the timing of the handover, just before the upcoming municipal elections, is highly suspicious. Concerns have been raised regarding responsible public spending and whether the initiative serves genuine needs or political gain. The opposition party is questioning the necessity and transparency of the program, suggesting it is an effort to garner favour with influential traditional leaders. This has fuelled accusations that the government is using public resources to influence voters. The DA is demanding a full investigation into the vehicle allocation process and its potential impact on the fairness of the elections.
