Investigations are underway into a fire that damaged a section of the Kumasi Central Market, near the Aboabo station in Ghana. The Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, ACFO I Peter Tetteh, believes a power restoration fault may have sparked the blaze, citing eyewitness reports of a short outage followed immediately by the fire's outbreak. The incident occurred during an inspection of the area by Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, alongside Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene and Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi. Eyewitnesses reported a brief power cut, and the fire started shortly after electricity was restored. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage at the Kumasi Central Market. The Ghana National Fire Service is continuing to investigate the possibility of a power surge as the cause.
