Amos Kipruto of Kenya won the Chicago Marathon with a personal best time of 2:01:09, after placing second in 2025 and third in 2024. He overtook defending champion Jacob Kiplimo at mile 21 and maintained his lead to win the 48th Chicago Marathon. Hawi Feysa of Ethiopia successfully defended her women’s title, also achieving a personal best of 2:13:33. The race took place in ideal conditions – sunny but cool – and saw Tadese Takele Bikila of Ethiopia finish second in the men’s race, and Sharon Lokedi of Kenya place second in the women’s race. Kipruto’s time positions him as the joint-fifth-fastest marathon runner ever, marking a significant victory after previous near misses in Chicago. Both Kipruto and Feysa attributed their success to focused preparation and a strong mental approach to the race.
