A kindergarten in Kherlen soum, Khentii aimag, Mongolia, is undergoing investigation due to construction flaws reported by “Khentii Medee Sonin” newspaper. The kindergarten, opened in October 2020, experienced issues shortly after, including cold drafts and heat loss due to faulty ventilation and windows. Officials were notified in March 2022, and while the ventilation was temporarily fixed, window problems persisted. Further damage occurred in 2025 after a severe storm. A 523 million MNT renovation project, approved by the local development fund, began but has now been halted due to the ongoing issues and concerns surrounding the initial construction quality. The kindergarten director expressed dismay at the situation, noting the building’s problems despite the initial investment and subsequent repair attempts, alleging poor workmanship and oversight. The situation has prompted scrutiny of the construction company and local authorities.
