Kia has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the EV5, a family-focused SUV priced around €50,000. The vehicle prioritizes interior space and a rugged SUV aesthetic in a highly competitive market segment. While offering a substantial 81.4 kWh battery providing over 500km of WLTP range in front-wheel drive configuration, the EV5’s electric performance doesn’t surpass other models within Kia’s own range. A recent test drive focused on the front-wheel drive “Earth” trim level, representing a mid-range option. Despite its spaciousness, the EV5 doesn’t necessarily excel in electric capabilities compared to its rivals. The model aims to appeal to families seeking practicality and style in an electric vehicle, but may not impress performance enthusiasts.
