A proposed airport in Bagerhat, named after Khan Jahan Ali (R.), is being considered for development with potential Chinese funding. Officials from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) visited the proposed site in Foylahat, Ramphal Upazila on Saturday to assess feasibility. The project aims to improve transportation links in southwestern Bangladesh, boost international trade, and expand the tourism sector. Local officials expressed optimism about the project’s economic impact on the region. Following the site visit, assurances were given that a proposal will be presented to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The airport is expected to play a crucial role in the overall development of the area, facilitating both domestic and international connections.
