Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his son-in-law, Mohammed Riyas, have been named as the first accused in two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) related to the CMRL-Exalogic scam. The cases center around alleged irregularities involving the Kerala Motor Vehicle Department’s (KMVD) Automated Fare Collection Integrated System (AFCIS) contract with Exalogic Solutions Private Limited. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) registered the FIRs following a complaint alleging corruption and misuse of power. Initial investigations suggest that undue favouritism was shown towards Exalogic in the awarding of the contract. Authorities are currently investigating the financial transactions between CMRL and Exalogic, seeking to determine the extent of the alleged financial impropriety. The opposition parties in Kerala are calling for Vijayan’s resignation amidst the escalating corruption allegations.
