Kenya has initiated a new security device regime to actively combat the proliferation of counterfeit products and bolster consumer safety nationwide. The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) announced the rollout during World Anti-Counterfeiting Day commemorations in Nairobi. ACA Board Chairman Nelson Gaichuhie stated the move signifies a shift from policy debate to concrete action. The regime aims to enhance the tracking and authentication of goods, making it more difficult for counterfeit items to enter the market. This initiative seeks to protect consumers from potentially harmful or substandard products and safeguard legitimate businesses. Authorities hope the new system will significantly reduce the economic impact of counterfeiting in Kenya.
