Supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) blocked the Karakoram Highway in Chilas to protest the election results of the GBA-16 constituency. The protesters allege that independent candidate Imam Malik was illegally declared the winner without the proper counting of postal votes or the preparation of Form 49. PPP candidate Attaullah Khan has labeled the process an injustice, claiming the official gazette was not issued within the legal timeframe. The blockade, which began Saturday morning, disrupted traffic between Gilgit-Baltistan and the rest of Pakistan, stranding thousands of passengers. PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari accused authorities of attempting to obstruct the party's majority in the region. Meanwhile, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party announced that the winning candidate, Imam Malik, has joined their ranks. Protesters continue to demand the implementation of the Chief Election Commissioner's orders regarding consolidated results.
