Pakistani counter-terrorism officials have arrested a suspect in Karachi accused of providing drone technology and electronic components to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted the operation with a federal intelligence agency, identifying the suspect as the brother of a known TTP operative based in Afghanistan. Authorities allege the suspect procured drone parts – including motors, propellers, and batteries – as well as mobile phones and complete drones, on behalf of his brother. These materials were reportedly intended for use in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), suicide jackets, and drone-based attacks. Investigators recovered explosive material, a drone, and related equipment from the suspect’s possession. The CTD considers the arrest a significant breakthrough in disrupting TTP activities, and the Sindh Home Minister has praised the successful operation. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the network.
