Following Uganda’s National Cleaning Day, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is grappling with persistent garbage piles along major roads and trading centers. Despite significant resident participation in the cleanup exercise, unusually large volumes of waste are overwhelming the city's capacity. Heaps of mixed waste were observed on routes like Namungona–Kasubi Road and Hoima Road, sparking concerns about potential public health risks. In response, KCCA is now seeking public feedback through online channels to address the ongoing issues. The move aims to improve waste management strategies and better handle future large-scale cleanup operations. The situation highlights challenges in Kampala’s waste disposal infrastructure and the need for sustained efforts beyond single-day events. This online feedback initiative is KCCA’s attempt to regain control of the situation and address public concerns.
