Ramzan Kadyrov’s 18-year-old son, Adam, has received the “Hero of Chechnya” title for a second time, according to Magomed Daudov, a close ally of Kadyrov. The award, presented during Russia’s national Day of Russia celebrations, recognizes Adam’s alleged support for Russia’s war in Ukraine. This follows a controversial past where Adam was previously awarded the honor in 2023 after assaulting a man accused of desecrating the Quran while in police custody – an incident largely overlooked by authorities. Since then, he has accumulated numerous awards and been appointed to several high-ranking positions within Chechnya, including assistant to the head of the republic and secretary of the Security Council. Daudov, himself a former separatist fighter who switched allegiance and became a Hero of Russia, announced the latest award. The repeated honors raise questions about nepotism and the Kadyrov family’s increasing influence within the region and its support for the Kremlin’s military efforts.
