Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager, has been confirmed as the new head coach of the German national team following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure after a disappointing World Cup exit. Germany was eliminated in the round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay. Klopp’s contract will run until the summer of 2030, and he expressed his desire to unite the nation through football. He emphasized a commitment to developing a team that plays with joy, fights for one another, and inspires national pride. Klopp, renowned for his “gegenpress” style and energetic leadership, previously led Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League titles. He was most recently involved in football operations with Red Bull. Former Arsenal player Per Mertesacker will also join the team as the new executive director in January 2027.
