Johor’s Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has requested the federal government to accelerate the implementation of the Automated Rapid Transit (ART) project. He emphasized the necessity of a high-capacity, efficient public transportation system to complement the upcoming Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, scheduled to begin operations in 2027. The ART system is intended to integrate seamlessly with the RTS Link, enhancing overall connectivity and easing potential congestion. Ghazi highlighted the importance of proactive planning to ensure a smooth transition and optimal utilization of the new cross-border rail connection. The request underscores Johor’s commitment to improving public transport infrastructure and supporting regional economic growth.
