Rail services at the Johor Bahru Sentral (JB Sentral) station will be suspended for six months starting December 1st, 2023, to facilitate construction related to the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link. The shutdown affects KTM and other rail operators utilizing the station, impacting cross-border commuters. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook confirmed the temporary closure, emphasizing the necessity for the RTS Link project’s progression. Alternative transportation options, including shuttle services, will be provided to minimize disruption for passengers. The RTS Link, connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore, aims to alleviate congestion at the Causeway and Second Link. Authorities anticipate the project will significantly improve connectivity and ease travel between the two countries upon completion, slated for the end of 2026. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and utilize available alternatives during the service suspension.
