Japan has committed $162.7 million in funding to Cambodia for the third phase of the Southwest Phnom Penh Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation and Improvement Project. The loan agreement was formalized through an exchange of notes signed by Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Japanese Ambassador Ueno Atsushi on June 22nd. This project aims to rehabilitate and improve irrigation and drainage systems in the Phnom Penh area. The funding will contribute to bolstering agricultural productivity and mitigating flood risks in the region. It represents continued Japanese investment in Cambodia’s infrastructure development. This latest contribution builds upon previous phases of the project, demonstrating a long-term commitment to supporting Cambodia’s economic growth.
