An AFP photographer was assaulted by Israeli settlers while documenting clashes between settlers and Palestinian olive farmers in the West Bank on Tuesday. Jaafar Ashtiyeh, 58, a long-time photographer for the agency in the Palestinian territory, sustained injuries including bruises to his head and torso. The attack occurred as Ashtiyeh and a colleague were covering ongoing settler violence. Witnesses, family members, and fellow journalists confirmed Ashtiyeh was transported to a hospital via ambulance following the assault. The settlers reportedly also discharged firearms in the direction of the journalists. This incident raises concerns about the safety of journalists covering the escalating tensions in the West Bank.
