The security situation in Lebanon is evolving amidst a stalemate in negotiations between Iran and the United States. The Israeli army plans to withdraw from two specific localities as part of a new "pilot zones" project. These areas, Zaoutar al-Charkiyé and Zaoutar al-Gharbiyé, would be placed under the control of the Lebanese Armed Forces. Both locations are situated on the northern bank of the Litani River. Consequently, these zones lie outside the buffer zone previously established by Israel. This move comes despite existing agreements concluded in Washington. The transition aims to test the feasibility of Lebanese military oversight in these regions.
