Goods transporters in Islamabad are demanding the Ministry of Interior release containers detained by Islamabad police. The seizures occurred ahead of a planned long march towards Islamabad by the PTI, protesting the detention of Imran Khan. The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association expressed concern that the vehicles are being used for political purposes, specifically to potentially block roads on September 27. Approximately 100 container vehicles were reportedly seized from areas like Sangjani and Tarnol. The association suggested the authorities rent available containers instead of impounding privately-owned ones, citing financial losses and damage to cargo. Transporters also reported containers being removed from vehicles and left in deserted areas, leaving them responsible for the cargo. The Islamabad High Court is currently reviewing a petition regarding the PTI’s planned protest, recognizing its potential constitutional implications.
