Following a signed agreement to end hostilities, shipping traffic in and out of Iran is resuming. Eleven Iranian vessels have already passed through the Gulf of Oman, bypassing the previously imposed US naval blockade. The accord stipulates a full lifting of the US blockade within 30 days, alongside the cessation of other disruptive measures against Iran. In return, Iran is committed to ensuring the safe passage of commercial ships and will refrain from levying tolls for 60 days, while also beginning mine removal operations within 30 days. The strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key artery for global oil transport, had been heavily impacted by the blockade, causing oil price increases and disruptions to international trade. While immediate resumption of shipping is possible, a return to pre-war oil export levels is expected to take months. Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, a mediator in the negotiations, confirmed the immediate effect of the reopening.
