Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Saturday that Iran is prepared to help bring an end to the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Shiite Ansar Allah movement, known as the Houthis. The offer was made during discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The Houthis currently control northern Yemen, where the ongoing hostilities are centered. Minister Araghchi’s statement signals a potential willingness from Tehran to play a mediating role in the protracted dispute. This comes as international efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Yemen continue. The Iranian diplomat did not elaborate on the specifics of how Iran would provide assistance. This offer could represent a shift in regional dynamics regarding the Yemen conflict.
