Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, has introduced a seven-step strategy aimed at eliminating violence within schools nationwide. The plan focuses on strengthening preventative measures and creating a more supportive learning environment for students. Key elements include improved teacher training on handling conflict, enhanced student support systems addressing bullying, and increased parental involvement in school life. The initiative also emphasizes establishing clear reporting mechanisms for incidents of violence and ensuring swift, appropriate responses. Furthermore, the strategy incorporates curriculum revisions to promote values of tolerance, respect, and non-violence. Minister Pratikno stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between government, schools, families, and communities to achieve lasting change and secure a safe educational experience for all Indonesian children. The government anticipates this comprehensive approach will significantly reduce violence and create a more conducive atmosphere for learning.
