Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and collaborative task forces have successfully extinguished 3,799.73 hectares of wildfires across six priority provinces. These provinces include Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan. The extinguishing efforts involved both ground teams and water bombing operations. BNPB reported a significant decrease in hotspots detected through satellite monitoring, indicating the effectiveness of the interventions. While efforts continue to address remaining fires and prevent new outbreaks, this achievement represents a crucial step in mitigating the environmental and health impacts of the wildfires. Authorities remain vigilant, particularly as the dry season persists in many parts of Indonesia. Continuous monitoring and rapid response capabilities are critical to preventing further escalation.
