Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has initiated discussions with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) regarding collaborative research support for its energy transition. The talks focused on strengthening Indonesia’s research capabilities and fostering innovation in renewable energy technologies. Key areas of potential cooperation include capacity building for researchers, access to advanced research infrastructure, and the development of joint research projects. Both parties acknowledged the importance of a sustainable energy future for Indonesia and the region. UNESCAP expressed its commitment to assisting Indonesia in achieving its energy transition goals through knowledge sharing and technical assistance. The Ministry highlighted Indonesia’s ambitious plans to reduce carbon emissions and increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix.
