Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has resumed and intensified efforts to extinguish wildfires raging in Kalimantan through cloud seeding operations. The agency is bolstering its response by deploying additional aircraft to spread seeding materials over affected areas. This increased capacity aims to induce rainfall and dampen the extensive fires caused by prolonged dry conditions. BNPB is coordinating with the Indonesian Air Force and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in this operation. The wildfires have raised concerns about air quality and public health across the region, prompting the urgent need for intervention. Authorities are working to prevent further escalation of the fires and to mitigate the hazardous haze impacting surrounding communities. Continued monitoring and evaluation of the cloud seeding’s effectiveness are also underway.
