Indonesia is actively promoting six of its airports as crucial hubs to strengthen connectivity between ASEAN nations and China. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, operating as InJourney Airports, is spearheading this initiative to capitalize on growing air travel demand in the region. The selected airports – Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta), Juanda (Surabaya), I Gusti Ngurah Rai (Bali), Kualanamu (Medan), Makassar (Sulawesi), and Yogyakarta International Airport – will undergo infrastructure improvements and service enhancements. This strategy aims to position Indonesia as a central node in the ASEAN-China air network, boosting tourism and trade. By offering streamlined transfer options and increased flight frequencies, Indonesia hopes to attract more international carriers and passengers. The move is anticipated to significantly contribute to Indonesia's economic growth and solidify its role in regional aviation.
