Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is prioritizing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector. This initiative focuses on developing precision farming techniques, including optimized fertilizer use and improved livestock management, to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. BRIN aims to leverage data analytics and sensor technology to monitor agricultural practices and provide targeted recommendations to farmers. The agency is collaborating with various stakeholders, including universities and private companies, to accelerate the development and implementation of these technologies. This strategy seeks to contribute to Indonesia’s national emissions reduction targets and promote sustainable agricultural practices. BRIN believes that AI-driven solutions offer a cost-effective and scalable approach to address climate change challenges within the agricultural landscape. The program also intends to improve farmer livelihoods through increased productivity and reduced input costs.
