India has begun receiving its first shipments of fertilizer from Morocco, including urea, diammonium phosphate, and sulfur, arriving at ports in Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, and Mundra. This move follows an agreement reached with Moroccan fertilizer giant OCP three months ago. New Delhi reports holding 19.6 million tonnes of fertilizer stock, but now identifies Morocco as a key strategic supplier for the upcoming agricultural season. The shipments are routed through the Strait of Hormuz. This deal signifies a strengthening of agricultural trade ties between India and Morocco. The imports aim to bolster India’s fertilizer reserves ahead of crucial planting seasons. This development comes as global fertilizer supply chains face ongoing disruptions.
