Aleema Khan has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court challenging the solitary confinement of her brother, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The petition alleges that Khan has been held in isolation for 22 hours a day, while Bibi is reportedly confined 24/7, both without judicial authorization. Aleema Khan claims the conditions are unlawful and inhumane, citing a significant deterioration in Imran Khan’s eyesight – reportedly affecting 85% of his vision. The petition names several officials, including the jail superintendent and heads of NAB and FIA, as respondents. It further states that Khan has been denied family and party visits for six months. The filing follows a similar petition regarding Bushra Bibi’s alleged isolation, and comes as Imran Khan serves a 14-year sentence related to the Al-Qadir Trust case. Aleema Khan requests the court to declare the solitary confinement illegal and order an end to the practice.
