The body of Amir Hossain, a 43-year-old imam, was recovered from inside a mosque in Chittagong’s Sitakunda Upazila on Tuesday night. Hossain was found hanging in a room on the second floor of the Raja Mia Saudagar Jame Mosque in the Sonai Chhari Union’s Bangla Bazar area. He had served as the imam at the mosque for 13 years and was originally from Banshkhali Upazila in Chittagong. Authorities were alerted around 10:30 PM local time, and subsequently recovered the body. The cause of death is currently believed to be suicide, though investigations are ongoing.
