Dozens of illegal dumpsites have been identified across Cirebon Regency, prompting a response from the local Environmental Agency (DLH). Authorities are taking progressive steps to address the growing waste problem and eliminate the unauthorized dumping grounds. Residents are being encouraged to maximize the use of household “biopori” composting systems as part of the solution. Biopori is a method of composting using cylindrical holes dug in the ground, promoting organic waste decomposition. The initiative aims to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills and improve environmental sanitation. The DLH has not yet detailed specific enforcement actions but emphasizes a collaborative approach involving community participation. This issue highlights ongoing challenges in waste management within the region.
