Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Bomb Disposal Unit successfully deactivated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED)-like object found near the Motijheel metro station on Friday evening. Police on duty at the station discovered a suspicious abandoned umbrella between 6:15 PM and 6:30 PM. Upon inspection, the umbrella was found to contain a device resembling an IED, prompting immediate action. The bomb disposal team was deployed and skillfully neutralized the device, ensuring the safety of the area. Authorities are currently investigating the origin and potential intent behind the placement of the device. The incident caused brief concern but was resolved swiftly by the police. No injuries or disruptions to metro services were reported.
