Member countries of the International Energy Agency (IEA) have agreed to accelerate the release of approximately 100 million barrels of oil from their strategic reserves, announced Wednesday. This release expedites measures adopted in March, with diesel reserves receiving priority. The IEA will convene a board meeting next week to further assess the situation. Collectively, member nations hold around 1.1 billion barrels in reserve, including over 200 million barrels of diesel. This action is aimed at stabilizing global energy markets currently experiencing volatility and soaring prices due to the conflict in the Middle East. The goal is to mitigate disruption and maintain supply amidst ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.
