Mongolia has successfully inscribed the “Hunnic Elite Burial Complex” onto the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea. This cultural site represents the first empire of Eurasian nomads, showcasing advanced societal development and cultural exchange between East and West. The inclusion recognizes the site's exceptional universal value, adhering to UNESCO’s stringent criteria of authenticity and integrity. The complex provides scientific evidence of the history, high level of craftsmanship, and traditions of the Hunnu people. With this addition, Mongolia now boasts seven sites on the prestigious list, including Lake Uvs, the Landscapes of Dauria, and the Burkhan Khaldun Mountain. This achievement underscores Mongolia’s commitment to preserving its natural and cultural heritage for future generations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the successful registration.
