Hungary’s Integrity Authority (IH) is establishing a public registry of companies and individuals excluded from participating in public procurement processes due to criminal convictions. The database aims to prevent further abuses and promote transparency in the bidding process, rather than simply stigmatizing those listed. According to the IH, the primary purpose of the registry is to offer a resource for authorities and businesses to identify potential risks. This preventative measure seeks to strengthen the integrity of public spending. The registry will contain records of those excluded for engaging in criminal activity related to procurement. By making this information accessible, the IH hopes to deter future fraudulent behaviour and ensure fairer competition.
