Mongolia’s Traffic Police Department reported 1,855 traffic accidents occurred during the national holiday. Tragically, these accidents resulted in the deaths of three children and injuries to 24 more. According to police, key factors contributing to accidents in rural areas include speeding, illegal overtaking, and passengers not wearing seatbelts. Driver fatigue and poorly maintained vehicles, such as those with mismatched or worn tires, also play a significant role. A disturbing pattern observed by authorities is parents failing to properly secure their children in vehicles, prioritizing convenience over safety. Additionally, malfunctioning vehicle lights were frequently noted as a contributing factor to the increased risk.
