Ho Chi Minh City is evaluating an extension of Metro Line 2 to the Northwest Urban Area. The proposed expansion consists of two sections, running from Tham Luong to the new urban zone. Investment for these segments is suggested to be carried out under a Build-Transfer (BT) model. This project aims to complete a crucial north-south railway axis for the city. The extension seeks to improve connectivity and support the development of the rapidly growing Northwest Urban Area. Utilizing the BT model could expedite the project's completion and lessen the financial burden on the city's budget. This development signifies a continued commitment to expanding public transportation within Ho Chi Minh City.
