Europa Nostra and Europa Nostra Serbia have voiced strong concerns regarding construction work initiated within the protected zone of Slobodište in Kruševac. The project, an “Exhibition Park,” is underway without adequate assessment of its impact on the historically significant site. Slobodište is a crucial archaeological location linked to the medieval Serbian state and the Battle of Kosovo. Europa Nostra fears the construction will irreparably damage the cultural and historical integrity of the area. They are urging Serbian authorities to halt work and engage in a transparent dialogue with heritage experts. The organizations emphasize the importance of preserving Slobodište as a vital part of European cultural heritage, calling for adherence to international preservation standards. Further investigation and mitigation strategies are demanded to protect the site’s unique value.
