Torrential rainfall has flooded a critical construction site for the A7 highway in Romania, specifically the Focșani-Bacău section. Work has been completely suspended near the Cleja viaduct due to extensive mud and water accumulation. Heavy machinery is currently unable to access the site and resume operations. This section of the A7, totaling 95.9 kilometers, is a vital component of Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The flooding represents a setback for the project’s timeline and potentially its budget. Authorities have not yet announced a timeframe for resuming work, pending weather improvement and site remediation. The A7 highway is intended to improve connectivity across eastern Romania.
