A 37-year-old man in Thessaloniki, Greece, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for domestic violence and endangering his two-year-old daughter. He was found guilty by the Thessaloniki Single Criminal Court of misdemeanor charges including domestic physical assault and threats. The assaults occurred against his wife, and crucially, took place in front of their young child. The court deemed the presence of the child during the abuse a significant aggravating factor. This case highlights the severity with which Greece is beginning to treat domestic violence, particularly when children are exposed to abusive behavior. The conviction sends a strong message against perpetrating violence within the family home.
