The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs0.39 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.40 per litre. As a result, petrol will now retail at Rs341.98 and HSD at Rs370.69 per litre. Taxes and duties remain significant, with the government levying Rs114 on petrol and Rs100 on diesel. These new prices are scheduled to take effect on August 25. This adjustment follows a period of volatility where fuel prices peaked in April due to US-Iran tensions. To address these fluctuations, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that fuel prices will now be fixed daily. The responsibility for these daily price adjustments has been delegated to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
