Ghana experienced approximately 450 suspected cases of yellow fever between June and September 2026, as reported by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh. A significant portion of these cases, 74, originated from the Upper West Region. Laboratory confirmation was achieved in only three instances within the Upper West Region. The national total of confirmed yellow fever cases remains undisclosed by the Minister. This data suggests a possible discrepancy between vaccination rates and actual immunity levels within Ghana. The emergence of these cases highlights the ongoing risk of yellow fever transmission and the need for strengthened preventative measures. Further investigation and data transparency are crucial for effective public health response.
