Ghana’s mining industry experienced a substantial decrease in fatalities in 2025, with only three recorded deaths compared to seven in the previous year. This marks a significant decline of over 57% in mining-related deaths. Despite the positive trend, the Ghana Chamber of Mines has stated that any loss of life is unacceptable. The Chamber emphasized that even three deaths represent a serious concern for the sector. This improvement in safety is likely due to increased regulations and improved safety protocols implemented across mining operations. The industry continues to focus on bolstering safety measures to strive for zero fatalities. Further effort is needed to eliminate risk completely within Ghana's mining sector.
