The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) has called on the Ghanaian government to prioritize employment-led growth in its 2026 Mid-Year Budget. Presenting their review in Accra, ISSER Director Professor Robert Darko Osei acknowledged positive economic indicators like growth, fiscal consolidation, and price stability. However, the institute emphasized that these gains are insufficient without tangible improvements in the livelihoods of average citizens. ISSER argues that the budget should actively focus on policies designed to create jobs and boost employment rates. The review suggests that economic progress must translate into real benefits for the population to be meaningful. Ultimately, ISSER believes a strong focus on employment is crucial for sustaining positive economic momentum and ensuring inclusive growth across Ghana.
