Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has formed a 16-member committee to create regulations for the country’s bitumen sector. The committee, comprised of representatives from various stakeholder groups, will be responsible for developing a comprehensive regulatory framework. NPA CEO Godwin Kudzo Tameklo led the inauguration, signaling a move towards formalized oversight of the bitumen industry. This initiative aims to establish standards and guidelines for the production, import, and use of bitumen in Ghana. The new framework is expected to ensure quality control, safety, and environmental protection within the industry. The committee’s work is a key step in developing a sustainable and well-managed bitumen sector for Ghana. This development reflects a broader effort to strengthen regulatory structures within Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
