Ghana’s Gold Board (GoldBod) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have agreed to deepen their partnership to combat illegal gold trade. The meeting focused on bolstering efforts against gold smuggling, money laundering, and associated illicit financial activities within Ghana’s gold sector. This collaboration aims to enhance monitoring and enforcement to curb illegal gold flows. Both organizations recognize the need for a unified front to address these complex financial crimes. Strengthening this partnership is expected to improve accountability and transparency in the gold trade. Officials believe a coordinated approach will yield more effective results in dismantling criminal networks operating in the sector, ultimately protecting Ghana’s gold resources.
